Wal-Mart Vice President forced to resign for lying about his educational qualification

David Tovar admitted of lying, which helped him survive in the company for 8 years

Mumbai: David Tovar, Vice President for corporate communications at Wal-Mart, was asked to resign from the company for lying about his educational qualification. The New York Times reported that Tovar said that he completed his graduation from the University of Delaware.

The report further stated that Tovar had attended the university for four years but did not complete his graduation. Tovar admitted of lying, which helped him survive in the company for eight years.

He even claimed that he was equally capable of receiving the necessary credits to graduate from the University of Delaware in 1996. So to avoid embarrassment, David Tovar just made a fake announcement that he had graduated from the university, but did not disclose any credits as such. Dan Bartlett, Wal-Mart's executive vice president for corporate affairs, said, “David has made many contributions to build our brand and to help make Wal-Mart better business. He even responsibly handled the publicity of Wal-Mart.”

Media also reported that Wal-Mart was supposed to promote David Tovar to senior vice president position. But after this disclosure he was forced to resign.
