GMR mulls aerospace training centre in city

Aerospace centre at Hyderabad airport will be used to train all levels of work force in aerospace industry
Hyderabad: The GMR Group is planning to set up an aerospace centre at Hyderabad airport to train all levels of work force in the aerospace industry. “We have realised that to meet the enormous growth of aerospace and defence sector growth in our country, the biggest challenge is skilled workforce. So we are planning to establish an aerospace training hub at Hyderabad Airport,” said Mr G.M. Rao, the chairman of the GMR Group.
He was addressing the 65th AGM of the Aeronautical Society of India in Hyderabad on Tuesday.For this purpose, he said a GMR team and French multinational Safran have visited the world class aerospace training centre located in Morocco.“We have studied in detail as how the establishment of the institute, with the support of the Moroccon government has successfully made the country as destination of choice for aerospace Companies. Today, Morocco’s aerospace and defence sector is its one of the major GDP contributor,” Mr Rao said.
“We have the same vision for the Hyderabad and this state. In fact, we have developed relationship with the Safran team in Morocco, and they are ready to guide us in creating the aerospace training institute in Hyderabad.”
He also requested the state government to support his company in setting up the aerospace training institute in Hyderabad, and make it the destination of aerospace companies from across the globe.With rising passenger traffic and increasing military and defence expenditures, the GMR chairman said that the demand for aircraft is expected to increase significantly in the next few years.
