Moderate turnout in bypolls

Moderate to high turnout of voters was seen in the Saturday bypoll
New Delhi: Moderate to high turnout of voters was seen in the Saturday bypoll to decide the fate of candidates in 33 Assembly seats and three Lok Sabha constituencies across the country.
Bypolls were held for prestigious Lok Sabha constituencies Vadodara and Mainpuri which were vacated by PM Narendra Modi and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav. The 11 Assembly seats and one Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pra-desh for which bypolls were held on Saturday are much watched out due to spirited campaigning by the BJP and SP.
While the BJP has much at the stake, as all the Assembly seats were represented by the party leaders who later won the Lok Sabha elections in May this year. The 11 Assembly seats recorded an average of 53 per cent voter turn out. The SP chief’s family prestige is at stake in Mainpuri as another of his nephew Tej Pratap Yadav seeks to make an electoral debut from the family pocketborough.
