Karnataka High Court to hear Karthik Gowda case today

A lower court had granted anticipatory bail to Karthik by imposing certain conditions

Bengaluru: Even as the City Civil and Sessions Court granted anticipatory bail to Karthik Gowda, son of Railway Minster D.V. Sadananda Gowda, in a rape and cheating case filed by a Kannada film actress, Mythriya Gowda, he had approached the high court on September 8, seeking to quash the FIR registered against him. The judge, who had heard it on September 8, has directed to post the case before another bench. The case has been posted for hearing on September 12.

A lower court had granted anticipatory bail to Karthik by imposing certain conditions including Rs 2 lakh in bonds along with two sureties for the likesum. The court had also directed him to appear before the investigating officer whenever he was summoned and to sign the police register at the R.T. Nagar police station on 15th and 30th of every month till the investigations are completed along with other directions that he should not tamper with evidence or influence any witnesses and to surrender his passport.

Revenue stamps
The high court on Thursday adjourned the PIL by Vijaykumar Sarj S Desai, resident of Itagi village in Rona taluk of Gadag district seeking directions to few banks with regard to pressing for revenue stamps for an agreement. He has further stressed the need for legal awareness to announce the withdrawal of use of stamps.

Meanwhile the court has orally asked the state government to clarify legal position on requirement of stamps under the Central Act. The PIL has been filed alleging that following the stamp paper scam, the use of stamps has been banned in the state but several banks are demanding the stamps. The case has been adjourned to September 22.

Sandalwood supply
The HC has asked the state government to state about the amount of sandalwood that will be supplied to the Udupi Krishna Math for various religious rituals. The math has moved the Court alleging that the state had assured of 1,087 kgs of sandalwood since Hyder Ali regime of free of cost till it stopped recently. It further states that the state was supplying 200 kgs of sandalwood but had discontinued.
