Chennai: The Magistrate, who met the prisoner Chandra in the Coimbatore prison for Women along with the woman medical officer, has confirmed that Chandra was assaulted by the police with PVC pipes.
This took place during the investigation of the murder of a landlady at Udumalpet. Taking note of the Magistrate’s report in pursuance of his order few days ago, Justice V Ramasubramanian of the Madras HC on Wednesday directed that Chandra be produced before the court on Friday afternoon.
Disputing the allegation that Chandra was beaten by the police to extract a murder confession, additional government pleader Senthilvel made a shocking claim that the woman sustained her injury when she fell down drunk
