NEW DELHI: Justice Handyala Lakshminarayanaswamy Dattu, who started his legal career in Bengaluru, will soon be appointed the new Chief Justice of India.

Justice Dattu, who will succeed Justice R.M. Lodha as the 42nd Chief Justice of India, on Wednesday described the Indian Judiciary as the best in the world. “I will seek the blessings of all citizens of this country to give me courage and confidence to take this institution of mine to the highest level,” said the 63-year-old judge, who hails from Karnataka.
