Jharkhand: Following a bizarre tribal ritual, an 18-year-old girl married a dog to ward off an evil forces, in a lavish ceremony attended by at least 70 guests in Jharkhand, as reported in the Daily Mail.

The young girl was ordered by village elders to marry the dog in order to get rid of bad-luck..

Following the rituals, the dog, Sheru, was brought to the wedding venue in a car and was welcomed by the guests with pomp and show.

Mangli was obviously not happy with the wedding, but believes that doing so would change her fortunes.

According to the report, the young bride said, “I am marrying a dog because the village elders believe that my evil spell will be passed on to the dog. After that is done, the man I will marry will have a long life.”

Strangely, Mangli is ready to take care of the dog and raise him as a pet for the next few months. She added: "I will marry a man one day. It is the dream of every girl to marry a prince charming. So I am also waiting for my prince."
