Caught on camera: BJP MLA shot at outside his Delhi residence

Jitender Singh Shunty said a proper recce must have been done before the attack

New Delhi: A Bharatiya Janata Party MLA, Jitender Singh Shunty was shot at by an unknown assailant on Wednesday morning at his residence in New Delhi. The attacker fired three-four times at Shunty. However, the MLA escaped unhurt.

Shunty said, “A proper recce must have been done before the attack because the attacker knew that I would be alone early in the morning and that would be the best time to attack me.”

Recalling the incident, Shunty said, "Somebody rang the bell 10-12 times. When I went out, I saw that there was a man standing there, wearing a helmet and holding some papers. The person wanted me to attest some documents. I took the papers from him and told him to wait."

"As soon as I tried to leave, he held my collar and took out the gun. He dragged me out and started firing. I fought back and ran away. The door of my house got locked and when he tried to shoot me, the bullet hit the door. I ran towards the other door and he fired again," the BJP MLA added.

Shunty's wife, Manjeet Kaur said, "My husband fought with the attacker. God was with him. I request the police and media to please get the attacker arrested as soon as possible."
