He said that the Royapettah government hospital has received the orders and funds for Rs 2 crore in January to construct the pediatrics block at the old hospital building.
The pediatrics ward now has 54 beds apart from five beds in the intensive care unit (ICU). Besides this, over 100 patients arrive at the

The new pediatrics block at the Royapettah hospital would come up near the heritage building with a total built up area of 8,000 square feet at the old venue. In the new pediatrics block, 10 beds out of the current 54 would be allotted to newborns, Dr Mayilvahanan informed and added that beds in the ICU will also be increased to 10.
