Bail cancelled to rape accused

The court cancelled the bail and asked Krishna to surrender within five days

Vijayawada: Following a petition filed by the police, a court on Monday cancelled the bail granted to fourth accused in the sensational rape and murder case that left the city in shock.

Jamapala Krishna, 24, one of the six accused in the rape and murder of the 43-year-old housewife was sanctioned bail on August 13 and was released on August 19.

Seeking cancellation of bail to the accused, as it was a case that needs to be solved as early as possible, police filed a petition with the court.

After hearing arguments of police counsel and the accused, the court cancelled the bail and asked Krishna to surrender within five days.

It may be recalled that the investigation officer of the case and two constables were suspended recently for their alleged negligence that led to the accused obtaining bail.

Police commissioner A.B. Venkateswara Rao had himself visited the court on Tuesday last, regarding the petition.
