Coimbatore:Residents of Kottai Medu and Ukkadam staged a protest alleging that they had not been issued tokens for distribution of the state government’s freebies such as mixers, grinders.
The residents showed the tokens issued by their ward councillor and demanded the freebies. However, officials said that the tokens were fake, leading to tension in the area. The residents staged a protest However, police rushed in and pacified the crowd.
The residents were assured that they would be given the freebies soon and then the crowd dispersed.
