Sadananda Gowda says son Karthik falsely implicated in rape case

‘Shocked to see this report, it hurt me, my personal and public life is an open book’

Kochi: Railway Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, on Thursday said his son has been "falsely implicated" in the matter.

"Law will take its own course. I will not interfere in the matter", he said when asked about the complaint filed against his son Karthik by a small-time Kannada model and actress Maithriya Gowda on Wednesday.

"It is a personal matter. It is a falsely implicated complaint. As a Minister I am here", Gowda told reporters.

Railway Minister said, "Shocked to see this report, it hurt me, my personal and public life is an open book."

"Suddenly after engagement, if a girl claims such things it leads to suspicion," said the minister.

The woman had on Wednesday claimed that she is married to the minister's son. The complaint was lodged on the day when Karthik got engaged to another woman at a ceremony at Kushalnagar in Kodagu District.

Bangalore Police commissioner M N Reddi stated that the woman had filed the complaint in RT Nagar Police Station against Karthik Gowda, Sadananda Gowda's son, for allegedly raping and cheating her.

A case has been lodged against Karthik under IPC sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 420 (cheating), Reddi had said.
