Aamir Khan gets emotional as he narrates 'Satyamev Jayate' journey

The actor was moved to tears and took a moment to gather himself

Mumbai: Aamir Khan is all set to return on small screen with the third season of his highly anticipated show ‘Satyamev Jayate’. The first two seasons which highlighted the prevalent issues in society received an overwhelming response from the masses.

During the announcement of the new season, Aamir mentioned, “Like others I too didn't believe anything could change in this country but ‘Satyamev Jayate’ journey made me believe that everything is possible.” Hence the show revolves around the concept of ‘Mumkim hai’ (Everything is possible).

The usual one and a half episode will be followed by an hour long live conversation with Aamir. The actor will be travelling to different parts of the country and will even respond to Facebook posts and tweets.

The actor expressed his despair on going through so many incidents, “During research, I go through more than 100 incidents. The stories make me question sanity. We cannot take up all of it because nobody can bear to go through it.”

While narrating a rape incident, Aamir was moved to tears. He took a moment to gather himself, wiped off tears with his shirt and continued again, “The incidents have left a massive impact on my life. It has made me more sensitive to people around me.”

Though he dodged the topics to be addressed this season, he did admit that several celebrities will be a part of the show, not for promotional activities but because they have a connection to the issues.

On being asked how he actually came up with the concept of the show, “I felt guilty of not using the stardom for a good cause. Of course I do a lot of charities but I didn't get that mental satisfaction, something was pricking me all the time. And when I was offered a game show, I asked the makers to do something on the issues faced by common people.”

The session then moved on from his show to the Censor Board issues of films. On being asked if he doesn’t consider ‘PK’ poster to be vulgar, pat came the reply, “I don’t find anything vulgar in it…don’t you go for swimming?”

Aamir was asked what if he becomes Prime Minister for a day. He diplomatically answered, “I believe our current Prime Minister is doing a fabulous job and we should follow the guidelines laid down by him.”

While concluding the event, Aamir was asked if he too charged a huge sum of money like other celebrities, he replied “I never quoted an amount, I just said whatever is appropriate please pay that.”

The show will go on air on September 21, and will feature six episodes.
