BJP chief Amit Shah to visit Kerala for a state level meet soon

Amit Shah will attend a two-day session of state-level meeting on Aug 31 & Sept 1

Thiruvananthapuram: The BJP is on a drive to admit into its fold disgruntled workers belonging to other parties in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Kasargod, Thrissur and Palakkad districts as part of gearing up for the local bodies’ polls next year.

The strategy will be given final shape by the visiting RSS chief Mohan Bhagawat, who will be in the state for about a week and BJP national president Amit Shah who will reach here on August 31.

According to former state BJP president and national executive member P. K. Krishnadas, so far 25, 000 workers had joined the party. “Both the Congress and the CPM have been decimated. We welcome disgruntled CPM men into the party and we hope there will be an exodus to the BJP soon,” he said.

But another BJP leader expressed fear about admitting more workers from other parties when there are enough unhappy leaders in the BJP itself.

“There is a norm that former district presidents have to be there in the state committee. Unfortunately, the state leadership has not called state committee meetings. The state meeting should be held at least once in six months,” he said.

Mr Amit Shah will attend the two-day session of the state-level meeting here on August 31 and September 1. He will address the concluding meeting which is likely to be held at Chandrasekharan Nair stadium or Hotel Chaitram. He will also address a brain-storming session at Thiruvallom where party leaders from booth level will take part.
