Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu plans riverside capital

Only service sectors to be allowed in the capital to check pollution
Hyderabad:The government buildings of the new capital of Andhra Pradesh may have a river view as Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu wants them to come up on both banks of the river Krishna, from Nandigama to Vijayawada and from Amaravati to Tadepalli.
Gadde Rammohan Rao, the Vijayawada East MLA, said that Vijayawada had been finalised for the capital and Mr Naidu was particular on a river view.
To facilitate connectivity between both sides of the river, at least three bridges with four to six lanes would be constructed.
Mr Rammohan said, “Around 10,000 acre of government land is available on both sides of the river. Our Chief Minister is very particular about the river view. This part of the river is perennial due to storage at the Prakasam barrage. If this option doesn’t work out, we have the Nuzivid area where 30,000 acre of government land is readily available.”
Mr Rao added, “The capital zone of Krishna and Guntur will have only green buildings and there will be no industries allowed here. Apart from the proposed ring road for which the land acquisition process has already been completed, the government is planning another outer ring road, that will encircle three districts. The ORR will also be passing over the river for which a huge bridge will be constructed somewhere near Nandigama. The capital will be inside this ORR, on the banks of the river.”
The planning for the capital will be done to ensure that it is pollution free and only service sector industries like IT will be encouraged there. Manufacturing, pharma and other polluting industries will be set up at Anantapur, Prakasam and in North Andhra districts.
