RJD chief Lalu Yadav rushed to Mumbai hospital

Results of bypoll elections in Bihar will be announced today

Mumbai: Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was admitted to a hospital on Monday for medical evaluation.

"This is a scheduled medical evaluation. There is no cause to panic," a spokesperson for the Asian Heart Institute, located in suburban Bandra Kurla complex.

Asked if the 66-year-old leader would undergo a heart surgery, the spokesperson said, "That would be decided only after medical evaluation."

Votes for the by-elections to 10 Assembly seats in Bihar fought by him in partnership with long-time rival Nitish Kumar, are being counted today.

A spokesperson of the hospital said, "We confirm that Lalu Prasad Yadav is admitted to Asian Heart Institute for a detailed health evaluation."

"This is a planned visit. With the family's permission, we will keep you posted on further developments," the spokesperson added.
