Kerala Chief Minister says his life is an open book

Hassan blames media for tarnishing Chief Minister's image
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Friday lashed out at his detractors in the party and UDF saying that his political life was an open book and nobody can portray him as an agent of liquor lobby.
At a press conference here Mr Chandy said that he had all along advocated the need for prohibition in a phased manner. His reaction came in the wake of statements made by people within the party and UDF and also from certain religious groups indirectly hinting that the Chief Minister was acting at the behest of liquor lobby.
At a separate press conference KPCC vice president M M Hassan said that he had never stated that V M Sudheeran had portrayed the chief minister as agent of liquor lobby. There was a propaganda against the the chief minister through the media on these lines.
Mr Hassan said as the leader of the Congress, Chandy had always supported prohibition in a phased manner. In 1985 the then chief minister K Karunakaran had constituted a sub committee to look into the issue of prohibition. It was headed by Chandy . Based on the committee report, the government constituted the Udayabhanu Commission.
“It is cruel to portray such a person as representative of liquor lobby,’’ Hassan added.
