Telangana survey superhit, says CM K Chandrasekhar Rao

Leftover to be surveyed today, report puts Telangana State population at Rs 4.5 crores
Hyderabad: The Telangana government’s unprecedented ‘Samagra Kutumba Survey 2014’ turned out to be a big success on Tuesday with majority of families across the state including Hyderabad getting enumerated.
Main thoroughfares in Hyderabad, and other cities and towns across Telangana were completely deserted with people staying indoors so as to not miss the enumerators.
When reports last came in, the government claimed 93 to 95 per cent enumeration across Telangana. It was 74.35 per cent in Hyderabad up to 8 pm and officials said that it would be completed late by Tuesday night.
In case some households are left out, the government has decided to take necessary steps to complete the same on Wednesday. Officials were supposed to take a decision on Tuesday night after getting reports on the quantum of survey done from all districts including Hyderabad and the number of people left out.
Meanwhile, many agitated people called up the GHMC office and other officials when enumerators did not turn up at L.B. Nagar, Uppal and other areas due to overburden or shortage of forms at some places. Some houses were missed due to lack of correct door numbers etc.
Describing it as a “super hit survey” and a “slap on the face of critics”, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao thanked the people and enumerators including government staff, students, teachers and volunteers for participating in the survey in large numbers. “Huge success of the survey indicated people’s faith in the government and the great spirit of government staff and enumerators who did not demand remuneration, but worked for TS,” Mr Rao said.
