Telangana CM KCR showers sops in maiden Independence Day speech

Telangana State Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced sops for all sections of the society
Hyderabad:In his maiden Independence Day speech at the Golconda Fort on Friday, which lasted about 24 minutes, Telangana State Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced sops for all sections of the society. He also launched the scheme for distribution of 3-acre agricultural land to Dalit families. Mr Rao handed over land registration documents to 48 women beneficiaries.
The CM said that 50,000 posts will be filled up through Telangana Public Service Commission, with 12 per cent reservation for minorities and tribals. This will be implemented after getting reports from committees headed by former High Court judges. Sportspersons who brought laurels to the country and state by winning medals in the Olympics and CWG were presented with cash awards on Friday.
Highlights of the Chief Minister’s speech:
Transport tax on autorickshaws, agriculture tractors and trolleys will be waived. Moreover, Rs 76 crore arrears on these sections too will be waived.
Financial assistance to poorer sections like elderly, widows and the physically-challenged was also announced.
Telangana water grid scheme will provide tap connection to every household, to ensure safe drinking water to all.
The CM sanctioned Rs 11 crore for waiver of debts of Erra Jonna farmers in Nizamabad district; Rs 482 crore was released towards input subsidy for farmers hit by natural calamities in the last few years. The amount is to be directly credited into their bank accounts. Rs 5.5 crore was released towards the Rs 1 lakh loan waiver scheme for powerloom workers.
Special increment was announced for government employees in appreciation of their role in Telangana movement.
The CM said a comprehensive sports policy will be drafted to promote sports. The government will bear expenses up to Rs 3 lakh to enable sportsmen to take part in international events.
Rs 340 crore was sanctioned to strengthen the police force.
Hyderabad will be made a ‘4G Wi-Fi-enabled city’ soon. It will be surrounded by six cities, namely pharma city, sports city, film city, manufacturing city, health city and education city. Satellite townships to be created to ease congestion in the city.
More importantly, the Mr Rao also stressed on providing zero-corruption, accountable and transparent administration to the people.
