CM K Chandrasekhar Rao to launch free land scheme at Golconda Fort

After a cultural show and guard of honour, CM will address a gathering from ramparts

Hyderabad: The national flag will flutter in all its majesty at the Golconda Fort on Independence Day after Telangana State Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao unfurls it for the first time at the new venue on Friday.

Mr Rao has decided to hold Independence and Republic Day celebrations at the historic fort, on the lines of the Red Fort in New Delhi. He will also launch TRS government’s first phase of the 3-acre free land scheme to landless Dalits at the function by distributing pattas to 30 eligible women from Nalgonda district.

From the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad, I-Day and other national celebrations will be shifted to the 16th century fort which has been spruced up for the event.

After a Telangana cultural show and guard of honour, the Chief Minister will address the gathering from the ramparts of Rani Mahal inside the Fort. The CM is expected to announce government programmes, policies and vision for the next five years.

A three-tier security cordon has been set up inside and outside the fort with all entrances to the fort have been put under surveillance. Only pass holders will be allowed inside the fort for the celebrations.
