Jaganmohan Reddy slams Telugu Desam for blood politics

'Over 19 political murders took place in Andhra Pradesh after Mr Naidu came in power'

Vijayawada: Hitting out at Telugu Desam for encouraging ‘politics of murder’ in Andhra Pradesh, Opposition leader and YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said on Wednesday that over 19 “political murders” took place in the state after N. Chandrababu Naidu became Chief Minister on May 16.

Mr Reddy on Wednesday visited Gottimukkala village of the district to console the family of A. Krishna Rao, a local sarpanch, who was allegedly murdered by TD activists.

Krishna Rao was killed for not voting for the Telugu Desam in the recent elections, Mr Reddy alleged.

YSRC would move the high court seeking a CBI probe into the case, added Mr Reddy.

Claiming that such a violent action could not be perpetrated without the support of the government, Mr Reddy said “We will raise the issue in the next Assembly Session and ask the CM for an explanation.”

Irrigation minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao condemned the comments of Mr Reddy. The minister alleged that Mr Reddy is resorting to mudslinging on the TD leaders for no reason. He said the YSR family has criminal background and Mr Jagan is also an accused in MLA Paritala Ravi murder.

“There is no need for the TD to resort to murder politics. We came to power with the support of people,” he added.
