Andhra Pradesh offices to be in Vijayawada

Delaying the announcement of a new capital was creating unnecessary problems

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, asked his officials to set up a temporary capital in Vijayawada and house the government buildings in IT Medha Towers. He was also of the opinion that the new capital should be officially announced at the earliest and said that the government had already selected the place and the blue print was ready.

Mr Naidu on Tuesday met the Capital Advisory Committee. He said that delaying the announcement of a new capital was creating unnecessary problems and confusing people. He added that since the construction of a world-class capital city would take time, the state should have a temporary capital at Vijayawada.

He said if some important offices were shifted to Vijayawada, people would be happy that the government had come nearer to them.
