Rahul Gandhi's Uttar Pradesh riot remark draws ire

Rahul Gandhi said that communal violence in Uttar Pradesh is “deliberately engineered”
New Delhi:Rahul Gandhi’s remarks that communal violence in Uttar Pradesh is “deliberately engineered” gave fresh ammunition to the BJP which accused the Congress of indulging in communal politics and said the leader’s statement itself reflected such a thinking.
Union environment minister Prakash Javadekar said that Mr Gandhi’s statement should not be given “much importance” as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already said that his vision is to take everybody together.
“If any party does communal politics, it is the Congress. They had alliance with Muslim League. In Hyderabad they had a tie up with MIM. Even now, in both the Houses of Parliament by discussing communal situation, their motive is to increase communal tension,” Mr Javadekar told reporters here.
He was responding to Mr Gandhi’s remarks that ongoing communal conflicts in UP have been “artificially and deliberately engineered”.“Whatever is happening in UP... This SP government which is there is because of the Congress. It was the Congress which took their support for the last ten years. Congress’ thinking is totally communal and I condemn his statement because their communal thinking co-mes out of that,” Mr Javadekar added.
