63 year old Bengaluru teacher sexually assaults 8 year old girl in school

Bengaluru: An eight-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her teacher at a school near Gubbalala Gate under Talghattapura police station limits. The latest shocker comes barely a month after the rape of a six-year-old girl at Vibgyor High school.

The arrested 63-year-old teacher has been identified as Chandramouli, a resident of Talghattapura. Chandramouli was working as a part-time teacher in the school and was a good friend of the principal, Lakshmikant. The accused, a retired postman, had joined the school two months ago.

Police said the victim told her mother about the assault on Monday evening. The teacher had allegedly taken her to the first floor of the school building, removed her shirt and touched her inappropriately. The girl is reported to have said that such assaults occurred several times over a period of time, a senior police officer said.

“When the girl’s parents approached the principal on Tuesday, he denied the allegations,” said SP Anupam Agarwal.

The accused is said to be a habitual offender and the school staff had brought it to the notice of the principal, but he had not taken any action. A case has been booked against Lakshmikant and Chandramouli, under Sec 8 (Sexual Assault) and 21 (failure to report offence) under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
