I will get zero as an actor: Dev

"I am forever dissatisfied with my work", he adds

Kolkata: Giving himself zero mark as an actor, superstar-turned-MP Dev says he has to just copy the director's words.

"In an Intellectual film all the actor has to do is follow the story as narrated by the director," the Buno Haansh's Amal told PTI here.

Dev, who would himself award not more than zero grade as an actor, explained how he remains dissatisfied after each shot. I am fussy with my portrayal every time I see rushes, and films at premier and that feeling never stays on me. I am forever dissatisfied with my work. So zero chhara aar kato number debo nijeke?" he said.

Citing the shaky, distraught look of Bunohaans Amal as an example, Dev said, "I had to bring that trembling hand mannerism of Amal but I still believed more needed to be done for perfection. But the director was happy. I always feel that way. Don't you want to progress as a human being step by step in life. If I think I am complete as an actor, I will be finished." Dev, said he fully subscribed music director Shantanu Moitra’s view that as an unknown superstar, not having seen any of his films, helped the melody-man infuse freshness in the musical score revolving the character’s journey from Dhaka to Kolkata.

"In Chander Pahar, that too an arthouse film, I was still moulded as a super-hero, and it clicked but in Buno Haansh it is a very timid kind of character. At the outset, something unlike of me. Yaar (friend) working in mainstream film is not that easy as it is the audience who will copy your every action after coming out of cinema halls. It is also a critical job," he said.

Reliance Entertainment produced Buno Haansh, based on an epochal Samaresh Majumder work, will be released on August 15.
