Andhra Pradesh Bifurcation: MLAs in quarters row

AP legislators asked to vacate block allotted to TS leaders

Hyderabad: In further escalation of tension between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the Telangana state government has asked AP legislators to vacate their quarters at Hyderguda in a week or face disconnection of power and water supply.

Telangana Assembly Quarters Allotment Committee chairman and TRS MLA S. Ramalinga Reddy said the AP legislators were living in quarters allotted to Telangana MLAs despite having their own.

He also went a step ahead and asked the AP governme-nt to immediately shift the capital out of Hyderabad.

His statements came after a fall out between both governments over nativity, conducting Eamcet and stripping of the old SIB building of furniture and fittings by AP Greyhounds.

Mr Ramalinga Reddy said, “The Old MLA quarters at Hyderguda has two blocks; one of them was allotted for Telan-gana and the other to AP MLAs. In both blocks few MLAs of the other state are residing. We didn’t want to offend the MLAs and wanted to get them vacated in a friendly manner on personal requests and did not serve any notices.

“Meanwhile, AP has se-rved notices to our MLAs staying in the quarters allotted to AP. This has hurt us. Our staff went to the quarters of former MLA from Chittoor C.K. Babu to ask him to vacate quarter number 207 in MS-2. However, he spoke to them rudely. So we have decided to take up the issue seriously.”

Mr Ramalinga Reddy said the Telangana government was also preparing and serving notices to AP MLAs staying in quarters allotted to Telangana. “They have got a week, otherwise we will cut power and water connections,” he added.

There are 56 flats in each block, MS1 and MS2, of the Old MLA Quarters of Hyderguda.
