Sivaramakrishnan Committee estimates Rs 7,000 crore for AP capital construction purpose

Krishna riverfront development project in Vijayawada is also proposed
Hyderabad: For the construction of Secretariat, Assembly and other major buildings in the capital, the Sivaramakrishnan Committee has estimated about Rs 7,000 crore whereas the state committee has estimated Rs 14,000 crore.
Similarly, for infrastructure facilities like roads, water, power, drainage etc. the Committee has estimated Rs 6,400 crore as against the State Committee’s Rs16,000 crore.
For the construction of Raj Bhavan, guesthouses, residential quarters for ministers and others, the state committee has estimated Rs 55,000 crore. But the Committee has not mentioned the construction of Raj Bhavan and other buildings in its report. It has also left out the cost of land acquisition for construction of the capital, which the state committee has pegged at Rs 20,000.
The Andhra Pradesh government has also proposed a Krishna riverfront development project in Vijayawada on the lines of the Sabarmati Riverfront Development in Gujarat. For this the Narayana Committee has estimated Rs 5,000 crore while the Sivaramakrishnan Committee has not mentioned it.
According to the proposal, the state government will develop both sides of the Krishna River in the limits of Vijayawada with promenades, gardens, amusement parks, golf courses, water sport facilities etc. Construction of houses will also be taken up for the poor who are living precariously on the riverbed.
The state government has also proposed an Outer Ring Road around the Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali urban agglomeration and has requested the Centre for an initial payment of Rs 19,700 crore for execution of the same.
