Nawaz Sharif may invite Imran Khan ahead of Azadi march on August 14

The government has already called army for security in Islamabad which some feel is designed to stop the PTI rally

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is likely to invite Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan for talks to end weeks of confrontation that is yet to peak as Mr Khan has announced a ‘decisive’ Azadi march against the government on August 14.

"The PM will arrive back from Saudi Arabia on Tuesday and is expected to invite Imran Khan for talks to sort out the issues,” a government official said. The government has already called army for security in Islamabad which some feel is designed to stop the PTI rally.

The government denies this notion saying the decision is only aimed at ensuring security for three months as there are threats of terrorist attacks. Mr Khan has said on many occasions that the August 14 march will not be called off and it will oust the ‘corrupt rulers’ with ‘fakemandate’.

The premier met top Saudi government functionaries but, sources said, these were mere courtesy calls and “no official business were discussed.” PML-N sources said that on his return the PM would be meeting the top leadership of various political parties to have their input on various important issues including the ongoing military operation in North Waziristan Agency. “Nawaz Sharif is likely to meet Imran Khan during the upcoming session of the National Assembly and would formally invite him for negotiations.”
