New Delhi: External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, who ended a three-day trip to Nepal on Sunday, said the visit had “exceeded” her expectations. “I am very content with the trip, and it went beyond my expectations,” she said in Kathmandu.
She had co-chaired the joint commission meeting, held after a gap of 23 years, with her Nepalese counterpart Mahendra Bahadur Pandey. Among the significant decisions taken there is that to review the 1950 India-Nepal Treaty of Peace and Friendship to “reflect current realities.”
The joint commission, which met on Saturday, also directed the Nepal-India boundary working group to begin field work at the earliest. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is due to pay a two day visit to Nepal on August 3-4.
