Telangana school bus mishap: Parents bury wrong body, find son alive

Darshan, who is undergoing treatment, identified his father by calling out to him

Hyderabad: The Railway Police handed parents of a boy involved in Thursday’s bus accident the wrong body leading to misunderstanding and a lot of unnecessary heartbreak, especially after it came to light that the boy, whose parents were handed the wrong body, was alive. For six-year-old Darshan Goud, it was like a rebirth as he was thought to have died in the accident at Masaipet in Medak district.

Darshan’s father, Mr Swamy Goud, a resident of Kistapur, was handed over the body of another boy, whose build was similar to their son’s, by the police after autopsy at Medak mortuary and they buried the body. However, the body later turned out to be that of Thumma Dattatreya, alias Dattu, son of Mr Veera Babu and Neeraja of Islampur. Revenue officials later exhumed the body.

Darshan, who is undergoing treatment, identified his father by calling out to him. Interestingly, Friday is Darshan’s birthday and he is said to be stable.
