Congress leader asks for ouster of Rahul Gandhi 'critics' from party

Dhirendra Pratap said action should be taken against such leaders from the party

Dehradun: A senior Congress leader on Wednesday asked for expulsion of party members who have rebelled against its vice president Rahul Gandhi after the Lok Sabha polls.

Accusing such dissident elements in the Congress of being hand-in-glove with BJP, Uttarakhand PCC spokesman Dhirendra Pratap said action should be taken against such leaders from the party, who are being too critical of Gandhi after the election results.

"The high command should evict party leaders from Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana and Maharashtra, who have rebelled against Rahul Gandhi after the Lok Sabha poll results," Pratap said in a statement here without naming anyone.

Calling them "opportunists" who can't live without power, he said those being too critical of Gandhi don't seem to realise that the party derives all its strength from the Gandhi family. He demanded their ouster from the party, saying by issuing statements against Rahul Gandhi they are harming the party.
