French team to visit Kochi for Metro project on July 29

The team is expected to review the various project components in progress
KOCHI: A four-member team from the French funding agency, Agence Française de Développement (AFD), will visit Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) on July 29. The team is expected to review the various project components in progress, the procurement plan under process and the modalities for transfer of funds.
Mrs. Priscille de Coninck and Mr. Arnaud Dauphin, project managers from the sustainable and transport division (AFD Paris), will lead a supervisory mission with Mr. Cheikh, DIA, and Mr. Gautier Kohler, project officers at the AFD, New Delhi office.
During the visit, the new project manager in charge of the Kochi metro project at AFD, Mrs. Priscille de Coninck, will be introduced.
AFD is developing a Technical Assistance programme, which is expected to be launched by the end of 2014 with a grant of 8,00,000 Euros. The team will also discuss the content and implementation of the technical assistance programme, which will focus on the Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (UMTA) roadmap and KMRL's operation and maintenance strategy.
The mission will also review various ongoing studies like environmental and social impact analysis study, the transit orient development study and Resettlement and Rehabilitation policy
“The newly inducted task manager, Mrs. Priscille, will assess the project and also check the compliance of conditions of the Project Loan. This is the AFD's second mission after the signing of the loan agreement. We are hopeful that the team will finalise proposals for technical assistance, and also explore further funding possibilities for urban transportation in Kochi,” said Elias George, managing director, KMRL.
