Film Fraternity stands up for Subhash Ghai to save his film institute

The filmmaker is racing against time to save Whistling Woods International film school

Mumbai: Bollywood stars Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, Boman Irani and many more have joined hands to start an online campaign to save showman Subhash Ghai’s institute Whistling Woods International film school in Mumbai.

According to reports Ghai was ordered by the Bombay High court to vacate the plot in Film city after a public interest litigation was filed that claimed formed Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Vilasrao Deshmukh allotted 20 acres of land in Film City to the school. The institute was then ordered to give back 14.5 acres of land and gave them a notice period till the end of July, this year.

After the institute’s notice period ends on July 31, the government will seize the land and put it up on the market once again, there are also talks of a government-run cultural university.

A batch of students had their convocation ceremony a couple of days ago, where special guest Kamal Haasan was present. The institute will not be granting admissions for courses from 2014 onwards as ordered by the court.

The film fraternity has come together to lend a helping hand to Subhash Ghai and have been actively tweeting out their support in hopes that Chavan will intervene.
