Varun Dhawan fears trouble from the censors

Actors next movie is a psychological thriller

Mumbai: He is yet to complete the shooting of his next, Badlapur that is being directed by Sriram Raghavan. But Varun Dhawan fears that once completed, the film may run into trouble with the censor board.

“It is known that the film is a psychological thriller, but not many know that the theme is very dark. The film spans a timeline across generations and nothing similar has ever been attempted in Indian cinema. So the content will come as a shock to many and the first in that list is the censor board. Both Varun and Sriram will have a lot of explaining to do,” says our source.

When quizzed about his role in the film, Varun says, “All I can reveal is that the film is absolutely new to Indian cinema. Since we have chosen an unconventional subject, we are going all out with an unabashed approach. I just hope that none of the scenes get cut by the censors. Beyond that, it is too early to divulge anything more. I have to admit that it has been a great ride so far since my role is truly challenging and radically different from whatever I have done so far.”

He is happy to be sharing the frame with Huma Qureshi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vinay Pathak. “The talent out there is simply outstanding. I am happy to be associated with them all,” he says with a smile.
