Amarnath Yatra shrine board says medical certificate a must for pilgrims
Hyderabad: Over 25 people have already died during the Amarnath Yatra since June 28, 2014.
The official website of the yatra keeps updating the details of deceased people and the cause of death.
As per the site, of the 25 deceased pilgrims, 23 had died due to a cardiac arrest.
The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board has now made it mandatory for all devotees to obtain a medical certificate from the Shrine Board-approved doctors before applying for the registration.
The list of doctors or institutions authorised to issue the compulsory health certificate from the city:
Dr Kodanda Pani (Prof. orthopaedics) Osmania Medical College; Dr P. Krishna Malakonda Reddy (Prof. of cardiology) Osmania General Hospital; Dr P. Ramulu (Prof. of general medicine) Osmania Medical College; and Dr Y. Venkata Subba Reddy (Prof. of cardiology) Osmania Medical College.
Advance registration has become compulsory for all pilgrims who wish to undertake the yatra.
The two routes this time are from Baltal and Pahalgam and the yatra will conclude on August 10, 2014.
No one is allowed to undertake the yatra without securing a Yatra Permit, which is valid for a specified day and route.
