Jharkhand: 10-year-old raped on village head's order to seek revenge

Victim’s elder brother had alleged attempted to molest the assaulter's sister

Bokaro: A 10-year-old girl was dragged out from her house on Tuesday to a nearby forest in a remote village in Jharkhand’s Bokaro district and was raped by a 25-year-old man.

The minor was raped on the orders of a self-appointed headman of the village. He ordered that the girl be raped as revenge for her elder brother's alleged attempt to molest her assaulter's sister.

The man had taken up the matter with the headman, alleging that the girl’s brother had tried to molest his sister on Monday night.

The girl was dragged out of her house when her father was away for work and only her mother was at home. Medical report confirmed that the girl was raped.

Reportedly, villagers are not speaking much about the incident but they said that almost the entire village witnessed the horrifying crime and none of them intervened because of the fear of the headman.

According to media reports, Jharkhand Police have arrested the headman, the victim's brother and the man who raped her.
