Naidu completes a month without office, sans any major decisions

CM's only major decision in last one month is cancelling Power Purchase agreements

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu completed one month in power without an office at the Secretariat and without taking any major decisions.

It seems that Mr Naidu is continuing his old style of functioning by holding review meetings for hours together without taking any decisions.

In the last one month the only major decision taken by Mr Naidu is the cancellation of Power Purchase agreements (PPA), while decisions on farm loan waiver and on new capital are pending.

In fact, Mr Naidu had announced in the past that the new capital will come between Vijayawada and Guntur but it is yet to be made official.

After the Sivaramakrishnan Committee submits its report in August the new capital will be finalised. Mr Naidu is waiting for the report on the capital and the RBI’s decision on farm loan waiver.

Apart from making Kapu and BC leaders deputy Chief Ministers and extending the retirement age of government employees by two years the Chief Minister has not yet taken any steps to implement any of the major poll promises.

In his nine years as Chief Minister and 10 years as Opposition leader Mr Naidu was blamed of lacking credibility. In spite of that people voted him to power.

The administration set up has collapsed after bifurcation. The allotment of government employees and All India Service officers to both the states has not yet been done. No one knows which employee is working in which government.

Even after a month Chief Minister Mr Naidu has no office at the Secretariat, and it shows the pathetic condition of the employees.

AP information minister Palle Raghunath Reddy said, “Andhra Pradesh is an old state only in records. Everything is new. Telangana has a fully established capital, but we don’t have it.”

He said the AP government will not take any hasty decisions like their counterpart.

Rather, it is giving priority to review the decisions of previous governments, particularly that of the YSR government. Finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said, “We are ruling AP from Telangana. If we go to our state, then decisions will be quicker.”
