Issues related to the price hike was taken up on the first sitting of the Budget 2014

Mumbai: Lok Sabha adjourned till 12 noon after uproar by opposition MPs. As per the discussions carried out in the first session, the prices of diesel, cooking gas have drastically gone up.Food inflation has soared from 8% to 9.5% in just a month and half. Rajya Sabha MP and Congress leader, Ghulam Nabi Azad further added, ‘Rice, eggs, tomatoes, milk, dal, coconut everything has become too costly.’ The rise in the railway passenger fares has affected other commodities as well, highlighted further.

Rajya Sabha MP and Congress leader, Ghulam Nabi Azad further argued that even if the UPA raised prices it was done gradually. But in last one and a half month, the prices have been shooting up. BJP got 80-90% votes because people were hopeful that price rise will be fixed by the BJP, highlighted Congress Rajya Sabha MP, Ghulam Nabi Azad.

NCP Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule further questioned the government with regards to the issue of unemployment prevailing in India and what kind of measures are being taken to curb it. Petroleum Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan also stressed that farmers' interest is most important. The efficiency of ethanol is somewhat less compared to petrol but in the interest of the farmers and the people in general the government will take forward the previous government's move, added Dharmendra Pradhan.
