My stepmother is spreading rumours about me: Anjali

The actress who is back in Chennai has started shooting for the untitled movie in the city amidst security

Chennai: Anjali, who returns to Chennai after two years following her controversial shift to Hyderabad, bag and baggage, started shooting in the city on Thursday for her upcoming flick with Jayam Ravi.

Speculations ran high that the dusky actress would face problems from a few organisations who had objected to her acting in a film without completing Oor Suttri Puranam directed by Kalanjium. Rubbishing the notion that she was under threat in such a manner, a now much leaner Anjali said, “You just saw me completing my first shot for this film with Ravi. So, I am not intimidated. If at all I do a Tamil film, I want to re-enter with a bang; I liked director Suraaj’s script.” She then added, “I don't want to talk about why I left my house.”

The bubbly girl thanked the entire Tamil industry for supporting her during her troubled times. It was rumoured that she took refuge with a leading Tollywood actor who, it is said, shielded her from the public glare. Denying this, she said, “It is news to me! I am independent and can take care of myself.” Since the case regarding Oor Suttri…… is in court, Anjali refused to comment on it, but indicated indirectly that she would not work on that film.

On her alleged secret wedding, she quickly retorts, “Oh, when did it happen without my knowledge?” Yet another piece of gossip which was being circulated was that Anjali was suffering from skin problems. “Just because I walked out of my stepmother’s house, she is spreading such rumours. I can’t be reacting to everything she gibbers,” she said.

She plays a homely rural belle in Ravi’s film, where she tries her hand at comedy. She was also open now to listening to scripts from good banners. Sources said that the producers, Lakshmi Movie Makers, who brought her back to K’town, had made enough security arrangements for her.
