Waiting for roles that will explore my acting skills: Leema Babu

Leema Babu who charmed her way into viewers’ hearts has grown into a charming young lady

Kochi: Luck has been on her side since she made her debut as a child actress in the film Rasikkum Seemane in 2010. The clever little Gayathri in the film had swept viewers, both young and old, when she asked her two classmates to study well and become a doctor so that she can decide whom to marry! That cute scene from the film is still making its rounds on YouTube.
She has grown up since and has been seen in many young super-starrer films. Her debut as a teenager in M-town was in Pattom Pole.

After playing substantial roles in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movies, Leema Babu, is all set to sizzle on the big screen opposite Fahadh Faasil in Money Rathnam. “I am both excited and nervous to be cast opposite to Fahadh. The shooting will begin today and I am preparing myself to bring out the best in me,” says Leema.

She plays Divya in the film, a Tamil girl. “Divya is neither very modern nor orthodox, just like me,” says Leema who has been portrayed as cute and innocent in all the films she has acted till date. “It is probably my looks that give me such roles. I started my career when I was 11 years old. Now I am waiting for roles that will explore my acting skills.”

The young girl who as a child dreamt of becoming a doctor walked into films quite by accident. “My family who wanted me to concentrate on my studies, are now convinced of my talent, as they have been hearing the hosannas I get from the critics even for the minor roles I do!” The actress has taken a break from studies to complete her projects. “I have six projects now in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam as heroine.”
