Samsung launches the mini-variant of the Galaxy S5, but no prices announced

Samsung has launched the mini-variant of the Galaxy S5, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini. The device launch is a follow-up trend of the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini which launched soon after the Samsung Galaxy S4 in 2013.

However, the Korean tech giant has announced that the device will be available only in Russia for now, with the rest of the continents following soon.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is a miniature version of the full-blown Samsung Galaxy S5. It will be available in four colours—Electric Blue, Copper Gold, charcoal Black and Shimmery White. The S5 Mini will include features such as heart rate sensor, fingerprint biometrics, power saving, kids mode and compatibility with wearable devices. The S5 will also be IP67 certified dust and waterproof.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 sports a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels and a pixel depth of 326 ppi and protected with a Corning gorilla Glass 3. The Mini will be powered using a quad-core 1.4GHz processor and 1.5GB of RAM. The internal storage would be 16 GB and the rear and front cameras will stay at 8MP and 2MP respectively. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, 3G, NFC, Bluetooth v4.0 and the battery used is a 2100 mAh Li-ion. At present we don’t have complete details on the device’s SoC and graphics processor.
