YSR Congress complains against Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy

'Statement issued by ex-minister was in violation of provisions of Panchayat Raj Act'

Hyderabad: The YSR Congress on Tuesday complained to the State Election Commissioner against former minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy accusing him of exerting undue influence on behalf of the TD nominees to get them elected for the MPP and ZPP posts.

The YSR Congress in its complaint said that the statement issued by the Mr Chandramohan Reddy on June 30 was in violation of provisions of the Panchayat Raj Act as well the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

It stated that Mr Chandramohan Reddy’s statement and whip issued by the party would not be binding on the elected representatives as the members were elected prior to the granting of recognition to the YSR Congress by Election Commission of India (EC).
