'Will ask my boys to go and rape CPM women'

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Pal on Monday while addressing party workers, threatened to get the Opposition party's women raped.

Tapas Pal who is a known face in the Bengal film industry, allegedly made other threats, the footage of which was aired by local TV channels. Pal was caught on camera saying, "I will ask our boys to go and rape CPM women if necessary."

Pal however denied the allegation later saying he said 'raid' and not 'rape'. "I never used the word rape, I said raid instead," he said according to reports.

The second time Lok Sabha MP from Krishnanagar, Pal has several movies, including Madhuri Dixit's debut film 'Abodh', to his credit. He also won a Filmfare Award for his role in 'Saheb' and acted in many other movies such as 'Bhalobasha Bhalobasha' and 'Guru Dakshina'.

55-year old Pal became MP for the first time in 2009, wherein he had defeated CPI(M)'s Jyotirmoyee Sikdar, a former Asiad gold medallist sprinter, by 77,386 votes with veteran BJP leader Satyabrata Mookherjee coming third.

Later, he was also accused of being absent from his constituency and not fulfilling his election promises.
