Andhra Pradesh to probe graft charges

CM Naidu asks ministers to review and prepare department-wise deals of previous govt

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday asked all ministers to review and prepare department-wise deals finalised and decisions taken by previous governments to allot projects pertaining to land, mining, irrigation, liquor, sand, SEZs and chit funds.

The files pertaining to all such deals where in “corruption and irregularities are found and suspected,” will be submitted to finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu-led Group of Ministers constituted by the state government on June 20.

“AP government has decided to have enquiries conducted into allegations of corruption in all such deals finalised during previous governments pertaining to land, mines, irrigation, liquor, sand, SEZs and chit funds and recover the public money misutilised and swindled,” information minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy and municipal minister Dr P. Narayana said after coming out of the meeting.

The constitution of GoM itself was considered as a move to corner not only Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, but also the Congress leaders whose morale is on all time low after failing to win a single seat in AP Assembly, followed by MLCs switching over to TD.

AP cabinet also decided to demand for a CBI enquiry into truck loads of illicit liquor seized in Nellore district during last election. The State government will take back even the government properties given on a platter to various agencies after a proper enquiry.

“Lakhs of crores of rupees irregularities and corruption took place in all deals and projects during last 10 years and AP State government is committed to dig up and recover the public money,” the minister said.

Naidu also asked the ministers to review the functioning of their respective departments and prepare a 100-day action plan to take up developmental activities. The caibinet will meet after 10-days and also a proposal that cabinet meeting should be held every 10-days is under active consideration of the Chief Minister.
