Andhra Pradesh pipeline explosion: Sabotage angle ruled out

‘Fire has been brought under the control’

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Additional DG (Law and order) Mr R P Thakur has ruled out the sabotage angle in the mishap that took place in Mamidikuduru mandal in East Godavari district on Friday.

Mr R P Thakur said, “Fire has been brought under the control. Initially they said four people have died. The toll will be much more. The pipes are in the underground and there was some leakage. Due to spark the whole thing got burst. As it took place near habitation quiet a number of people got charred to death,”

When asked he added, “I don’t think so there is a sabotage angle. But we will investigate.”

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is leaving for East Godavari to visit the blast site. On twitter, Naidu said, “My condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in East Godavari blast. I have ordered an enquiry and action plan to avoid this in future,”

YSR Congress president and leader of opposition Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed shock and grief over the blast. He has a probe into the incident and urged the state to ensure that the injured are given proper treatment.
