Lack of jobs takes serial actor Murali Mohan’s life

Was regular face on T.V., also acted in a few movies and tele-serials

Chennai: Well known small screen Murali Mohan, 55 committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling at his residence in Purasawalkam on Thursday. A regular face on the small screen who has also acted in a few movies and in tele-serials, Murali became popular after his appearance in a ‘health drink’ ad. He has also acted in two movies -Director Shankar’s Boys and Alli Thandha Vaanam.

Police suspect that the 55-year-old actor was allegedly depressed due to lack of acting roles and this coupled with a few domestic issues had forced him to take the extreme step. He had taken the step when his wife had left to Tambaram to attend a function on Wednesday night, police investigations revealed. When his wife returned home on Thursday morning around 8 am, she had noticed that her husband was nowhere to be seen and had enquired about him with her relatives who stay in the ground floor of the house. A few minutes later, the woman found him hanging from the ceiling of the bedroom in their first floor residence. Vepery police personnel rushed to the spot and secured the actor’s body and sent it to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for post mortem.

The actor was allegedly upset that he was without any acting projects for the past five-six months, police quoted a few family members as saying. A wife and a son, presently studying in the USA survive the deceased actor. Vepery Police have registered a case.
