Andhra Pradesh Court issues warrant for Team India captain M S Dhoni

The next hearing on the case is scheduled on 16th July

ANANTAPUR: A court in Anantapur on Tuesday issued an arrest warrant for Indian cricket team captain M.S. Dhoni for not receiving its summons thrice in a case where he allegedly hurt the sentiments of Hindus.

The case was registered against Dhoni for posing as Lord Vishnu and holding several items including a shoe in his hands on the cover of the April 2013 edition of Business Today. The complaint was filed by local VHP leader Y. Syamasundar. The court served summons to Dhoni thrice, but he failed to respond.

Judge Vijayakumar directed the police to produce Dhoni, who is in England for the series against England, in the court on July 16.

Representatives of the magazine were present in the court on Tuesday. Sources said, similar petitions against Dhoni were filed in Delhi, Pune and other cities.
