N Chandrababu Naidu to pitch for special status in Delhi

CM N Chandrababu Naidu held preparatory meeting with officials in view of his Delhi trip

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held a preparatory meeting with officials on Sunday at his residence in view of his Delhi trip. Mr Naidu will leave for Delhi on June 26 along with other ministers. Mr Naidu discussed pending projects and issues which need to be addressed immediately with officials of various departments. Officials of energy, industries, agriculture, education and irrigation departments gave power point presentations to the Chief Minister, who will place these presentations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The main agenda of Mr Naidu’s Delhi visit is to complete the process of getting special category status for Andhra Pradesh. National Development Council, consisting of the Prime Minister and chief ministers of various states, need to clear the special status to AP. Mr Naidu will request the Prime Minister to call an NDC meeting at the earliest.

The second important issue on the CM’s agenda is waiver of farm loans and Dwarca loans. The Chief Minister is likely to request the Prime Minister for financial aid and RBI clearance. The state government will seek rescheduling of farm loans by bankers and also fresh loans for the farmers. Mr Naidu is also likely to request for initiating measures to complete the Polavaram project within three to four years and constitute Krishna and Godavari boards. Sources said, Mr Naidu will also request the Centre to allot more power to the state.
