Court asks the CBI to start framing charges on the illegal asset case

Hyderabad: YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and former BCCI chief and India Cements MD N. Srinivasan, besides other accused, appeared before the special court for CBI cases here in connection with the alleged quid pro quo case involving the former’s firms.

The court directed the CBI and the defence counsels to start the process of framing charges in the case and posted the matter to July 21.

Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s close aide Vijay Sai Reddy, former ministers P. Sabita Indra Reddy, J. Geeta Reddy, Dharmana Prasada Rao and Mopidevi Venkataramana, who have been named as accused in the case, also appeared before the court.

N. Balayogi, the principal special judge who examined the case, directed that the process of framing charges in the case be initiated and further posted the matter.

Others who appeared are Shyamprasad, senior IAS officials Samuel, B.P. Acharya and Ratnaprabha. Senior IAS officer Y. Srilakshmi was among those who didn’t appear. However, their counsels filed separate petitions seeking permission.

The special court also posted the OMC scam cases, involving former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy, to July 21. While B.V. Srinivas Reddy, Mr Janardhan Reddy’s brother-in-law and an accused in the case, appeared before the court, Mr Janardhan Reddy and his assistant Mehfuz Ali Khan were examined from Bengaluru, where they are lodged in prison.
