Simranjit Singh Mann seeks registration of case against SGPC task force

On Friday clash erupted at Golden Temple during a religious congregation
Amritsar: The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) on Sunday demanded registration of a criminal case against the SGPC task force in connection with a clash at Akal Takht on June 6 this year, the 30th anniversary of Operation Blue Star.
"Police have been biased and are following the line of the SGPC by registering criminal cases against youths.
"Similar cases should be registered against members of the SGPC task force who attacked youths during the clash," said SAD (A) chief Simranjit Singh Mann, a former IPS officer.
Mann, a former MP, said he would move the High Court seeking directions against what he alleged biased working of the Punjab Police.
He said a cross-FIR must be lodged against the SGPC task force for "attacking innocent youths".
Mann, who held a press conference in a private hotel, said police were chasing him since morning. He dared the police to arrest him.
Mann alleged police had registered criminal cases against 28 "innocent" youths who were attacked by the SGPC task force.
He said SGPC employees had denigrated the sanctity of the Golden Temple and should be punished by the Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs.
On June 6 during a religious congregation to mark the 30th anniversary of Operation Blue Star, a clash had erupted leaving 12 injured.
